Client Setup Instructions for Spartan Student
A network license of Spartan Student has been purchased for the
entire campus. This license allows for 250 users to simultaneously access the Spartan Student software. |

Requirements
Your computer meet the following requirements to use the networked
version of Spartan Student:
- OS X 10.7 or newer operating system
- 2 GB RAM
- 60 GB available hard disk space
Installation Instructions
Spartan Student requires that the entire application be installed on your
computer. Your computer will still need a network connection to check
out a license for Spartan Student from the server each time you start the
program.
- Connect to the repository for the installation files from Box at https://unh.box.com/v/unh-academic-apps. This folder is accessible to all UNH account holders, but you may have to login with your UNH username and password to gain access.
- Open the folder for the Spartan Student software.
- Open the folder for the version and operating system you would like to install.
- You will see an archive for the software. In this case, it will be a .dmg disk image file. Download this by clicking on the item and then clicking on the black Download button that appears in the middle of the browser window.
- Once the download has finished, open the archive from the downloads location that your browser uses. Typically, this is the Downloads folder in your user folder on the computer. When you open the archive, you should see the installation files to continue the process.
- Double-click the SpartanStudentV727.dmg file to mount the disk image.
- Drag the Spartan Student V7 file to the Applications folder to copy it to your computer.
- Open the Applications folder and then double-click on the Spartan Student V7 program to start it. Be sure you are opening the program from the Applications folder and not the original on the disk image.
- Accept the license agreement and then click Accept.
- Enter your administration account username and password when prompted.
- The Spartan Student software will now report "License not found". This is normal. Click the button to Launch License Utility.
- In the license utility, select the Network option and click Next.
- Click the Install button to install the licensing drivers.
- Enter your administration account username and password when prompted.
- Switch to the window for the Sentinel Runtime installer. Be sure to NOT click Next in the Wavefunction License Utility window until you go through the process of installing the Sentinel Runtime. Instead, slide the Wavefunction License Utility window to the side to get it out of the way.
- In the Sentinal Runtime installer, proceed there the installer accepting the license agreement and the default options. If prompted again, enter your administration account username and password another time.
- Once the Sentinel Runtime installer has finished, click Next in the Wavefunction License Utility window.
- You will be prompted to enter network license server to connect to. Enter academic.unh.edu and click Next.
- If prompted, once again, enter your administraiton account username and password.
- Click Done to exit the license utility.
- You may need to quit and restart the Spartan Student software now that you have configured the licensing properly.
- Once the installation is complete, you may discard the installation archive you downloaded in the initial steps.
Using Spartan Student
Because Spartan Student much check out a license from the UNH license server each time it runs, you must be either on the UNH campus on a wired Ethernet connection or using the UNH-Secure wireless network, or you must be connected to the UNH VPN service if using the software from off campus.
Once you have completed the installation, you can run Spartan Student by
double-clicking on the Spartan Student V7 program located in /Applications. Optionally, you can drag the Spartan Student program to your Dock for easy access.

Uninstalling Spartan Student
Drag the Spartan Student application from /Applications to the Trash to remove Spartan Student from your computer. You can also delete all of these items:
- /Library/Application Support/HASP
- /Library/Application Support/Wavefunction
- /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.aladdin.aksusbd.plist
- /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.aladdin.hasplmd.plist
- /private/etc/hasplm
- /private/var/hasplm
- /usr/libexec/aksusbd
- /usr/libexec/hasplmd
