Client Setup Instructions for Amos
A network license of Amos for Windows has been
purchased for the entire campus. This license allows 5 simultaneous
users to access the Amos software. |

Requirements
Your computer meet the following requirements to use the networked
version of Amos:
- Windows 7 or newer
- 1 G RAM
- 1 G available hard disk space
It is recommended that you uninstall older versions of Amos before installing newer versions, but it is not required. To remove your old versions of Amos, use
the Add/Remote Programs Control Panel.
Installation Instructions
The following instructions will install the required files on your
computer for using the networked version of Amos. This procedure only
needs to be performed once, but it must be done on every individual
computer on which you wish to use Amos.
- Connect to the repository for the installation files from Box at https://unh.box.com/v/unh-academic-apps. This folder is accessible to all UNH account holders, but you may have to login with your UNH username and password to gain access.
- Open the folder for the Amos software.
- Open the folder for the version and operating system you would like to install.
- You will see an archive for the software. In this case, it will be a .zip archive file. Download this by clicking on the item and then clicking on the black Download button that appears in the middle of the browser window. Be sure to Download the .zip archive to your computer. Do not Open it from the location.
- Once the download has finished, locate the .zip archive. Typically it is in the Downloads folder in your user folder on the computer. Right-click on the .zip archive and select Extract All. Once extracted, you should see the installation files to continue the process.
- Double-click on Amos setup program.
- Note: It may take a period of time for the installation program to appear. Please be patient. Proceed through the setup program.
- When the Welcome screen appears, choose the Network license choice from the list of licensing options, and then click the Next button.
- When asked for the "License Manager Name or Server IP Address", enter academic.unh.edu. Then, click the Set button before clicking Next to proceed.
- For the "Destination Folder", it is recommended that you accept the default location by simply clicking the Next button.
- When the "Ready to
Install the Program" window appears, click Install.
Wait for the program to install the required files and make
the necessary changes to the Windows Registry. This process may take
several minutes.
- Once the installation is complete, you may discard the installation archive you downloaded in the initial steps.
Using Amos
Because Amos much check out a license from the UNH license server each time it runs, you must be either on the UNH campus on a wired Ethernet connection or using the UNH-Secure wireless network, or you must be connected to the UNH VPN service if using the software from off campus.
Once you have completed the installation, you can run Amos by using the items in the IBM SPSS Amos folder in the Start Menu.

If you believe there is a problem with the UNH networked installation
of Amos (errors obtaining a license from the server), please report the problem at 862-4242.
Uninstalling Amos
If you wish to remove Amos
from your computer, you may do so via the Windows Add/Remove Programs
Control Panel. Open this Control Panel, select the IBM SPSS Amos item, and click the Remove button.
