New Media Station Documentation - Introduction
Through the Student Technology Fee, the Student Computer Clusters currently makes available to students hardware and software for creating and editing digital audio, digital video, and digital photography. Users can create CD's, DVDs, MiniDV's, VHS, and Quicktime audio and video files. Users can also import video and audio from Digital Video camcorders, VHS tape, and other video sources. This documentation covers the basics of creating and editing digital media using the Student Computer Clusters resources on the Macintosh platform.
The Student Computing Cluster "New Media" workstations makes all of these resources available. There are three "New Media" iMac workstations in the McConnell Student Computer Cluster.
In addition to accessing digital media resources on the "New Media" workstations in McConnell Hall, users can access iMovie HD, iTunes 6, iPhoto 5, QuickTime 7, Sound Studio 2 and other digital media software packages at any of the Macintosh computers in the Student Computer Clusters. All Macintosh computers are equipped with Firewire 400 ports. Photo scanners are also available in several clusters.

Much of the work on our New Media workstations is done using Apple's iMovie software. This documentation gives a basic introduction to the features of iMovie, and provides links to documentation on working with the digital media resources in the Student Computer Clusters.
